"And a broken record!"

Girl #1: I find science interesting, but I'm not good at it... maybe I should switch to business.
Girl #2: Why business?
Girl #1: Because I'm not good at science.
Girl #2: But how do you know you'll be good at business?
Girl #1: Because I can always be an entrepreneur.
Girl #2: What business will you open?
Girl #1: I'll be an entrepreneur.

This girl has Ivey written all over her. Thought I would get that in before people start writing essays as to the true meaning of her words.

If so, she's probably VD-ridden.

Bow before your corporate overlords, communist filth!

Westervelt College Business will contribute much more to society than Ivey. Ivey has contributed to society about as mush as Will & Grace did.

Well, I agree about the "Communist filth" part. Switch that first bit to "corporatist overlords", though...

They aren't retarded, they're just Communists. I'm sure all of the support for parties like Green, NDP, etc. warms KGB President Putin's heart...

The NDP and other leftist groups aren't 'communist' in nature, just hopelessly idealistic. For instance the Green party wants to jack the gas tax by $0.10/litre. I am sure that this plan will not only entrall voters but completely save the planet.

OK, sure. But their ideals are socialist. They may not all want have the hammer and sickle branded on their foreheads, but very many of them do. In any event, they are, at the least, fellow-travellers and "useful idiots" who seek to overthrow traditional Western values in the name of "progressive" thinking, and that is no better than being a Communist.

11:35 AM
Anonymous Anonymous said...

ok you are all ignoring the actual ideals of communism and focussing on stalinism, which was the violent, distorted communism that only drove Russia deeper into poverty and despair. Communism was about an equal society where everybody helps each other out, abolishing poverty, homelessness, and strife. Excuse me if I'm wrong, but I don't see a problem with helping people so we can all enjoy the luxuries of life, cuz poverty sure ain't fun.

The important thing to note is that so called Western ideals ARE progressive in nature. North America began as an escape for those who felt oppressed in Europe. Over time, Western states (such as Canada) have worked to achieve some iteration of egalitarian ideals. Today most Canadian political parties try to build on this notion. Therefore the NDP's "prgressive" agenda does reflect Western values.

7:59 - while I agree that traditional western values are fairly progressive in nature, you forget that these values have recently undergone a period of regression. Today north american politics are dominated not by prgressive thinkers, but by regressive politions. Take for example the powerful Bush theocracy, and the recent election of the Harper conservatives whos agenda is topped with tasks such as rolling back gay marriage. These western states clearly want no part of progressive or even conservative ideals.

2:25,

You are talking out of your ass. My problem is with some the so-called "ideals of Communism"not with Stalinist totalitarianism. Actually, I even agree, in general, with the underlying ideas of socialist/Communist economics (i.e. non-private ownership of the factors of production). My problem is the naive egalitarianism which characterizes the vast majority of people who agree with such policies; i.e. the rejection of heritage and tradition in favor of "progressive" social values, and the replacement of nationalism with moronic internationalist and multicultural ideals.

7:59,

Your idea of what constitutes "Western values" is obviously quite different to mine. I believe in a strict adherence to, and protection of, the heritage and traditions of the nations of Northwestern Europe.

10:09,

I don't particularly like the Conservative party, and I certainly didn't/won't vote for them (even though they are the best option that has any chance of winning). But to characterize all people who do not agree with your Communist nonsense as "slack jawed rednecks" shows your true ignorance.

You are mentally retarded. When I said "the best option that has any chance of winning", I meant the party that is closest to my own beliefs, which has any chance of success. Please take your first-grade reading comprehension elsewhere.

Whatever happened to the moderate voice on campus? This thread has devoloved into a cliched battle of Right vs. Left. The left supports progress, while the Right refutes the point with mindless criticisms / insults. Where has the voice of sense and moderation gone, where either side of the debate did not have to revert to louder chest thumping?

Hahaha I just came upon this juicy little debate. It is hilarious how the NDP hippies are arguing with the Conservative jackasses. This thread has the makings of an old-school CNN Crossfire debate. I hope the lefties keep whining and the conservative cretins keep counterpunching with conjecture and name calling.

Fuck the NDP they are nothing but a bunch of fools captivated by Layton's so called charisma. The NDP supporters I have met are nothing more than a bunch of whimpy pseudo-commies who need a swift kick in the ass, to bring them back to reality.

Conservatives have prescious little freetime, from which they are not trying to keep down minorities, complaining about taxes, denying the existance of the conservative media, all while washing down prescription painkillers with a 60 of bourbon whiskey. So it comes as little wonder that they do not have time to read a book or be well mannnered.

7:16 LMAO you epitimized the redneck conservative way of life in only a few sentences. my one little bit of criticism is that it is not so much thsat they do not have time to read, but rather that on average conservative voters are less educated - as proven by a plethora of exit polls (including those from the '06 Midterms)- and therefore probabaly "can't read good"

10:02 - I wouldn't go so far as to say that Ivey students are rednecks. For the most part they seem fairly moderate albeit, severly capitalistic. However one might wonder about a select few of them, when you see them shotgun beers at parties.

hahahaha well done 9:06, you told off the jerk. While I think that we are capitalistic, and yes some of us get crazy with the booze, most of us are still essentially moderate Arts / Soc. Sci. students who still vote Liberal and NDP.

There is nothing moderate about the NDP; they are thinly-veiled revolutionary leftists. Ideally, they should all be shot.

Damn right I won't because of her ultra leftist stances on evrything. Plus those from London are sure to remember what an inempt city councellor she was.

You cannot speak of inempt former city council members without bring up the name "Diane Haskett". How many mayors have been fined by the Human Rights council? I guess she epitomizes what a conservative politician, a washed up idiot who couldn't do anything else.

This is quite true, take for example John Tory. This fool couldn't get elected federally, and got shut out of the Toronto mayoral race. Despite these failings, he was good enough to promoted to the leadership of the provincial PCs.
