"I wish there was, like, a book that put all of the words in the world in some kind of logical order..."

Two girls are on their way to write an exam.

Girl #1: Oh my God, I read that chapter over, like, four times and I still didn’t understand it.
Girl #2: Like, I know. There were SO many big words!

But IVEY is no ordinary business school...

It's the best business school in the country.

Fun fact: The official theme for Ivey's 2008 O-Week was recently selected to be: "Welcome aboard the Leader-Ship"

We're so clever.

9:16 - Ivey has consistently been at the top of the Wall Street Journal, the Financial Times, and BusinessWeek's rankings.

From Wikipedia:

"In The Wall Street Journal's 6th annual ranking of MBA programs, which is based on the perceptions of corporate recruiters around the globe, Ivey was ranked among the top 10 international schools by recruiters and the #1 school in Canada for the second year in a row."

Thanks for playing.

is the leader-ship a reference to the simpson's cult episode (where they follow the "leader" hoping to get aboard his ship?)
if so - yeah, that is quite clever. and appropriate.

3:19 (smug ivey student) You might want to ask IVEY for your money back because clearly they never taught you that you shouldn't use Wikipedia as a reference due to its unreliability. Then again, i guess unreliable people should be allowed to use unreliable references.

10:35 - As you should know, it is inappropriate to cite Wikipedia for most academic purposes, such as writing a paper. Last time I checked, references to Wikipedia on "Overheard at Western" weren't the faux-pas you claim them to be.

Seems to me like you're upset that I proved Ivey is, in fact, the best business school in Canada. It's pretty obvious you lack the intellectual capacity to come up with anything better than a Wikipedia attack... grasping at straws, are we? (Sidenotes: First, Wikipedia has been demonstrated to contain the same number of errors as the Encyclopedia Britannica. Second, if you doubt the veracity of my claims, you can find the rankings on WSJ.com).

Again, thanks for playing. Don't forget to ask whether they want fries with their order!

Why are all the Ivey kids that post to this site so insecure? I don't think it's the small cocks or closet homosexuality. I thinks it's the same syndrome that makes shitty fighters talk the most shit before getting their asses handed to them. I'm sure the Ivey students that will actually become successful keep their mouths shut.

^ Has it ever crossed your mind that maybe they talk shit just to get a rise out of you?

Or that maybe the people posting the "Ivey is better" comments don't actually go to Ivey?

Trolling, anyone?

"In the 2008 Financial Times rankings of MBA programs, Rotman ranked 1st in Canada, 20th in North America, and 40th in the world."
So it really depends on your source.

^ Probably. Although to be fair, the Ivey students aren't lying when they say that the school is one of (if not the) best business school in Canada. The original poster who started this shitstorm was trying to claim that it wasn't.

Ivey, Queens, Schulich - and apparently Rotman - are always fighting for the title of "the" best.

Personally, some of my closest friends are Ivey students. I'd be willing to put money on the fact that the person making all the Ivey comments is playing off the stereotype and stringing you all along.

I agree with 3:10. But since the whole Ivey troll thing has been going on at Overheard for a long time, I don't see anyone really caring if it's real or not. People just love to argue.

No way is it a whole bunch of Ivey students who are posting these comments. I'd bet ... pretty much anything you wanted that it's one person with way, way, way too much time on their hands.

^ Good point.

Does anyone remember the golden era of OaW... back in April 2006? There was one thread that got over 300 posts. I miss those days.

Stop being such buzzkills.. OaW used to be the cattiest place on the internet before all the Ivey stuff. C'mon, this is my entertainment while studying for the bar ads. I don't need to be bombarded with Ivey BS from both sides of the issue.

For everyone who has been following this site for some time, do you remember the Titanic's canoes? Spitting versus swallowing? Gay frat boys? That's what this site is all about. Smarten up, the whole lot of you, and end this pissing contest.

12:55 - actually, the Ivey stuff has been going on almost since the founding of OaW itself. It isn't anything new (read back in the archives if you don't believe me).

And in a broader sense, Ivey versus almost every other faculty has been a battle waged since time immemorial.

12:55 here. In response to 1:01 2nd para. if that's true, then go off and start whyiveyrulestheworld@blogspot.com of something like that. Leave OaW to make fun of dumb girls (redundant) and stupid frat boys (redundant).

You undergrads (and professional schoolers) are so goddamned annoying. Grow the fuck up you chucks; and please, let go of your seriously misplaced pretension while you're at it. Seriously, I didn't think people in university played this "my dad is better than your dad" shite anymore. I don't give a flying two-tonne mother-fuck if you go to Ivey or not. Why in fucking Franklin's name do you care so much about what other people think??? When there in the upwards of 1 million students in Canada alone (never mind the good ole U S of A), NO ONE ELSE CARES WHERE YOU GO TO SCHOOL, WHAT PROGRAMME YOU'RE IN OR HOW MUCH MONEY YOU'LL POTENTIALLY MAKE! Also, please stop being so fucking American (read: overly competitive, aggressive, and fucking pretentious about where you go and what you do). In the end, it honestly doesn't fucking matter. Shit, I thought Canadians were supposed to be polite and humble people...me thinks not...
