"And I'm horny now!"

Girl: I refuse to be someone's "sex kitten" to only alleviate their raging sex hormones. There's no love in that! It's purely based on the biology of excess hormones men have at this age.
Guy: You've never had sex, have you...
Girl: I'll be glad to have sex when I know the guy is right for me.
Guy: You might have to wait a long time for that...

I'm thrilled that you're posting the idiotic crap that comes out of the mouths of the fools who go to Western. Male and Female. You're all a bunch of stupid, privileged fucks. Up against the wall, morons!

You're absolutely right 7:55. There are lots of girls like this at Western, they just get overlooked because of the multitude of sluts that roam our campus.

You can heart sluts all you want....but if I were a guy,I'd want a girl that could at least read.

Chivalry isn't dead! Bitter feminist.

Chivalry was just another way to get pussy, don't read too much into it.

Chivalry IS dead... and feminism killed it!

If you support equal rights for men and women, that makes you a feminist. Why must there be so many negative connotations associated with feminism?

And 11:47, you're right. Chivalry was just a way to get pussy. So I guess the death of it was beneficial to us =)

Chivalry isn't dead; it is worn by the other foot.

I wish Chivalry was still around... you can't even get a guy to open the door for you anymore. And I'm not against equal rights for women, but it'd still be nice.

Did you know that Chivalry required a blowjob as payment for opening a door for a woman? Thats why men competed with each other to open the door, and why women to this day have an irrational fear of doors.

oh my, my, my! I always wondered why I had such an aversion to doors.

Opening doors is dumb, unless the woman has no arms.

6:20 - I'm fine with, as you describe it, equality feminism.

But too often feminism is used as an excuse by batshit insane women to spew off all sorts of extreme, nonsensical rhetoric.

For example, claiming that a spoof article in a college newspaper somehow creates a "culture of rape" and was meant to encourage men to go out and abuse women. Uh... no. Was it a stupid article in poor taste? Yes. But will endless numbers of women be raped because some guy read that article, as some feminists are claiming? No. Illogical claims like "culture of rape" is why feminism sometimes gets a bad rap.

It's true 8:14, fundamentalists, or radicals of any sort, usually give the larger group a bad name. But in the context of the example you provided (the spoof issue in the gazette), I think the issue extends far beyond feminism. Regardless of whether or not you agree with the issues surrounding the article, it's unfair to claim that only feminists are making an uproar about it. It seems to be a very touchy subject that has afflicted a diverse group of people. That, however, is besides the point.

I completely agree with you on the point that a small group of "batshit insane" women have taken the issue of equality too far. Perhaps this too, shall subside.

Oh, shit, the spoof issue. This one's gonna be a barn (read: bra) burner!

Honestly. It's a JOKE. People write harmless, politically incorrect jokes in bad taste all the time. It doesn't warrant, say... a town hall discussion on it. Mencia doesn't even have to put up with this, and he sucks ASS.

People weren't saying that it causes a culture of rape..just that one already existed and that the Gazette's attitudes towards women are perpetuating it.
ie: Outside Med/Syd a few months ago, a male soph sexually assaulted a female soph. The other ten sophs with them watched. The res clerk was the one who had to stop him. These are our student mentors?
It's been estimated that between 1/4 to 1/6 women get sexually assaulted by the time they graduate. It's really not something to be joked about, considering how many women on campus have had to deal with this issue (and men too, I'm sure it happens with them as well).
But the main issue most have with it? A girl criticizes the gazette. She tries to write for them, and they don't accept her articles (even though it's open for everyone???). Spoof time comes around, and guess who gets raped to be taught a lesson?
What does this tell the rest of us who aren't happy with the Gazette? Shut up and take it, or be a target in the next issue? Yeah it's a joke. But a) they weren't friends, so of course she's not going to see it as just a good natured jab at her, and b) she's a freaking feminist. Anyone with half a brain would realize that a rape joke would be extremely offensive to her.
So either the Gazette was getting back at someone they found annoying, or they have less than half a brain.

Yeah. God knows we wouldn't want people to be treated too equally.

This year's Gazette staff was the worst that I've seen in my seven years at UWO. The first half of the year, the paper was barely available online, and the articles were poorly written. On top of this, every picture in the paper had a infantile caption attached to it, usually sexual in nature, and bearing hardly any reference to what was being photographed.

To me, it seems as though the staff didn't take their job seriously, were lazy and irresponsible, and treated the subject matter as though it were a joke. I wonder if someone spoke to them about cleaning up the paper, and getting it online in time?

In the past, the Gazette was a fine example of student journalism, and could brag that it was the only student daily in Canada. This being said, I always enjoyed the humourous articles and captions in years past, but this year I got the impression that some very immature and stupid people were "trying too hard" to be funny.

So at the end of the day, it is hardly surprising that the April Spoof issue was a piece of trash. With all the issues that frustrate us here, why chose to write such a ill-conceived "spoof?" What does the police chief and sexual assault have to do with the UWO community... hardly anyone at Western even knew the guy's name before this. My opinion: immature morons + bad taste = embarrassing scandal for UWO.

While I agree that the feminists are taking this way too far, I object to the articles out of an interest in comedy and satire... simply not very funny.

^ Heh, kudos. That last paragraph sums up my feelings exactly.

If anything, the knee-jerk, over-the-top reactions by raving feminists and stereotypical "outraged student activists(who are protesting because they're bored, spoiled idiots with no real concerns of their own)" are much more humorous than the lame-ass article itself.

I think that girls and sluts should be like they we in the 60's and all that. Take care of their man, wash the bloody dishes, cook and have a meal and a ice cold beer on the table for when the man gets home, and pleasures her man when he wants it. Im sure most of you guys agree that would be good in life.

Who is with me on that one?
