And speaking of low-hanging fruit...

The class is having a discussion about people downplaying their wealth, status, etc. to gain acceptance from certain social groups.

Girl: It's like how sometimes college girls act like they're dumb, and say stupid things, and dress in a certain way to attract guys.
Prof: Sounds like my entire class at Main.

King's is awesome, respect.

I spent my first two years there...

Then I was accepted to Ivey, and sold my soul to the devil.

oh King's.... it's funny to see how they pretend like they're the "down-to-earth" crowd of UWO, when in reality, most of the ones that say how "real" they are cause they go to King's are those who applied to Main and didn't get accepted... (oh yes, and there's also the "I like smaller classes" excuse, which might be true in some cases, but it's BS in most)

I've never heard of not getting accepted at Main but getting accepted at King's. Aside from that, King's offers larger acceptance scholarships, which is why I went there.
And there are a lot less twats there. There has to be, it's a smaller campus.

Yeah, 11:29 is full of shit. I haven't heard of anyone who applied to both campuses but only got into King's. Like 3:06 said, King's gave me a thousand bucks in merit-based scholarships just for attending... that's a thousand bucks off my tuition that I wouldn't have gotten if I'd gone to main. Also, I genuinely liked that the classes were smaller. Main is fine if you're going into science or any other subject not offered at King's, but it makes a lot more sense to go to an affiliate if you're doing social sci/liberal arts.

Although Brescia genuinely sucks.

Haha... there s one little detail here: the stupid Ugg-boot-big-sunglasses crowd does phych, polisci, or basicly social sci/liberal arts which are exactly offered at Kings.. havent seen too many of those on main campus in science faculties, except for bio probably. welcome to reality kings and brescia....

another post full of shit: 6:58.
honestly, have you ever took a class at kings? probably not, because there are a hell of a lot LESS "ugg-boot-big- sunglasses" peeps there than main.

btw, just a side note: what makes the women who wear ugg boots and big sunglasses more "stupid" than the rest of the university crowd? everyone always makes fun of these select people ust because of their choice of fashion, yet, have you ever heard that many remarks about the frat-boy-looking-backwards-hat-and-sunglasses dudes that lurk around campus? probably not. but think about this: maybe you wouldn't need the sunglasses IF YOU WORE YOUR HAT PROPERLY.
exactly.
lets stop the ugg boot hate and go after these impractical trend whores.

Marry me, Bob. Also, UGGs are dumb. But I kind of like the big sunglasses, and I own a pair that's fair size...and I'm certainly not stupid or in social science. I've also seen many "trendy" guys who are going into medicine or something along those lines. How about we not stereotype? Unless it comes to UGGs, of course...because those are inexcusable. Or those Croc things, the ugly plastic sandals; they're the summer equivalent to UGGs.

Let's be honest -- there's a huge difference between first-, second-, and upper-year students, regardless of whether or not they are at King's or Main.

Be they Ugg-wearing, sunglass-toting, Lululemon-worshipping or marching to the tune of some other wallet-crushing trend, I'd rather run into a female political science/psychology/sociology student who's in the fourth year of an Honours degree rather than one in the first two years of study, regardless of campus. At the point where she's either GOTTEN her MRS or is clearly not gunning for one right away, there's something of value in the fact that you may be talking to an intelligent woman who has proven that she's at least somewhat capable of balancing both fashion and intelligence.

I will, however, maintain that steering clear of ALL Brescia students is a good idea.

I'm glad to see there is at least some consensus in this thread... we all agree that Brescia fucking sucks.

I would just like to point out that a good friend of mine from high school applied to both main campus and Huron and was rejected from main, but accepted at Huron. He was so embarrased he chose neither.

I liked near Kings last year and walked through it/studied at it all the time. I love it there, except that you don't have a pool. If I wasn't studying music perhaps I would have considered it as an option.

And yes, Brescia sucks.

What the fuck? What the hell is with all the hating on Brescia?

As a Brescia student, I'd wager my last nickel that all the posts bashing Brescia are made by women-hating scumbags who don't like Brescia because it encourages young women to think freely, independently and courageously and to fight against the patriarchal structures in society.

Everyone who is dissing Brescia makes me physically sick to my stomach. You soon-to-be wife-abusers should be fucking shot because you'll never accept the TRUTH... that the young women of Brescia University College are free spirits who will change the world and make all women free at last from male subjecation.

Fuck you assholes.

Dear 2:18,

one wonders how else (besides physically) one could be sick to one's stomach....

Also, if you have any desire at all not to be taken for a troll, perhaps you ought to learn to spell.

To 2:18,
I am a woman who has taken a course at Brescia but still found a great distaste for the campus. If Brescia is so great and liberating then why does it specialize in traditional female studies, such as library science and social sciences, and yet in order to do any serious studies in the traditionally male fields, such as science, many Brescia students have to go to main campus to take classes(I have known some who had to do this). Furthermore, stating that people you have no knowledge of other than a small portion of their opinion should be shot is much more fascist than liberating. The solution to female subjegation is not in separating the sexes because that is merely a physical representation of the mental separation that is being fought against. Instead developing respect between the sexes by more integration and by women acting like themselves, ie intelligent human beings, while with men is a greater way to foster equality.

2:18:

Brescia reinforces patriarchal society by suggesting that women need specialized spaces in which to study, "free" from influences from outside of the campus. This is your "room of your own" -- and yet you would strive to eliminate any challenges to the integrity of your argumentation by resorting to inflammatory statements and unsubstantiated claims.

Are Brescia students flowers too delicate for intellectual competition, be they of whatever sex/gender? By eliminating men from your campus do you believe that you are somehow building a freer, more equitable world? You have co-opted the patriarchy of a sex-selective campus in order to exacerbate existing gender differences; Brescia is based on an arbitrary distinction, purporting that women are somehow more similar amongst themselves than they are to men. You embrace division, not mutuality and freedom of thought.

Brescia stands as an institution denying the common humanity of Western students. We are a population of intelligent individuals who learn most when encountering the diversity among us. Cloistering female students at Brescia does nothing to foster this diversity.

Welcome back "dumb" girls that downplay their wealth, say stupid things, and follow the latest fashion trends. The summer wasn't the same without you here in London.
On a funnier note - I was driving back from TO yesterday when I got caught in the hourly traffic jam and pulled up next to a van full of Western girls who were flashing other cars on the highway for money. One girl was actually sitting in the back seat in just her bra.
once again, welcome back to London!

Dear 2.18,

Women who are capable of thinking freely can do that anywhere and at any time, they dont need all-women-college, or whatever Brescia is, to do so.
Besides, women who respect themselves will be respected by others. It just comes automatically. At least I had never had a problem myself, being a high-heel-tall-boots short skirt wearing math major with 90+ average. No uggs though.
I ve never gone to Brescia and I dont know if it sucks or not, but I suppose it does, because men are way more open-minded and courteous than women are. You just have to meet the right men.

Cheers....

I love how this "Brescia Activist" automatically assumed that because we were making fun of Brescia... then we must be men... and on top of that, that we must hate free thinking, strong minded women and plan to beat them up.

I find this funny because the free thinking, strong minded women at Western probably experience more when they are learning and living in a co-ed environment.

I would also like to point out that no, women from Brescia will probably never get beaten by their future husbands.... becuase they are all lesbians

By the way, I am a women.

I'd like to thank all those who smote poster 2:18. And by "they", I mean you, 2:18.

i went to kings and hated it because it's highschool all over again. Students of Kings need to grow up and grow out of their snotty ways. As far the former comments about getting accepted at Kings and not Main, that is the result of many students (including me)thus not bs.

11:17pm, do me a favour and bite my ass.

I'm a King's student, and it's only like high school if you treat it like it is. I can see your point that a lot of people from London high schools (or even St. Mike's in TO) seem to go there, and follow people that they went to school with not long ago.

The whole point of university though is to meet NEW people. Clearly you didn't do that. Nice work, smartass.
