Human emotions are for poor people.

Ugg Girl #1: So this weekend I was totally drunk and the cab I was in totally fucking hit some girl. It, like, totally ruined my buzz.
Ugg Girl #2: Oh my God! Was she okay?
Ugg Girl #1: We got out and she was sitting in the street just twitching and shit. Some girl we were with knew CPR, but she was just as drunk as I was. It just killed the buzz I had going on.
Ugg Girl #1 and #2: Hahahahahahaha!

Yes, they should.....

....I'm sure THAT would kill their buzz too....along with everything else....

it wouldn't have been overheard by the police investing the scene if it was being told to someone later. Unless, of course the police were following the girl around.

Read more carefully.

and yet if the girl was hot we'd still f..k her, what does that say about us guys? lol

the police could have shown up, the story doesn't relate everything that happened, just that they got out right afterwards.

THis comment is not only scary, but irresponsible and incredibaly vain and shallow.

Nubbs: The girls are telling the story of an incident that happened to them "this weekend". It could've been the Tuesday afterwards or something. Anyways, the point is that the quote is not taking place AT the crime scene (as indicated by the 2nd girl saying WAS she okay, not IS she okay) and thus no police.
dazz.

it doesn't matter where the quote took place. . .they were laughing at a girl who was hit by a car, and the fact that another drunk girl had to perform cpr. and who cares about her buzz. this makes me want to puke

Clearly, the Uggs were the underlying source of these girl's stupidity and insensitivity.

No, just the symbol.

This is rather repulsive, but it's one of those things that makes you remember that people in this country, even though it's too-nice-for-its-own-good Canada, are still inconsiderate assholes, but you don't have to be... I am positive that there was someone there at that incident who wasn't like these two..

.. what bugs me though, is that things like this- ugg girls and shallow reactions to significant incidents- get associated with some general steroetype of a Western Student. I know many of us that don't fit this stereotype take offense... I'm not sure whether this site is just harmful in its perpetuation of that stereotype, or just funny, because we know that's not really what Western's all about...

Well, I agree. When I was at Western I NEVER bothered myself with what other people thought; I never went to hot, fresh, cool parties, and never cared about looking "cool". I actually spent most of my time studying, studying, studying; and, I'm glad to say--after all of those years of studying--it definitely payed off. Call me absolutely crazy, but I actually went to university to push my intellectual boundaries so as to become a better, more enlightened person.

I think most of us know that the silly little insecure people (overtly visible iPods dangling around the neck, UGG boots, gigantic sunglasses, cigarette-between-the-fingers, dumpy jogging pants, insouciant attitude, etc.) who busy themselves with looking "cool" are a small sub-population at UWO. Ehhh...at least I hope so...

the problem is that because these people wear these crazy outfits, they stand out the most.
To generalize...they talk the loudest and bring the attention on themselves. This makes us believe that Western is just crawling with rich, self centered brats, and that those of us who want to be here and have worked damn hard to be here, are few and far between.

Now perhaps because i' over on King's campus, my experience is a little different. But i am glad to have met many people who like myself, have taken time off after highschool, sorted out their priorities, have to work so they have money for school, and are glad to be here gaining higher education.

Isn't intellectual snobbery as bad as fashion snobbery?

If a person chooses social stimulation over intellectual stimulation, isn't that a valid choice? I mean, they're not saying anyone else has to do it...

Also, isn't it possible to obtain social and intellectual stimulation simulteniously while in University?

Isn't it possible to go to parties, enjoy yourself, dress fashionably, AND do well in school and expand your mind? I could be wrong, but I've never had any difficulty reconciling the two...

There's something to be said for balance...

Well, it's called cathexis (see psychodynamics). I'm thinking that it's pretty hard for someone to invest so much into "looking cool and being seen" AND do well at school--both take an incredible amount of energy, whether you'd like to admit it or not (obviously the latter more so than the former). Sorry to stereotype, but I'm fairly confident to say that those who go to university to be seen, to party, and to wear hot-fresh-cool-unique "style" are a different sort than those who go purely to learn.

Social stimulation? Hell, if you want social stimulation piss off and go to Chapters--leave the classrooms to intelligent people who want to better themselves intellectually.

Yeah, yeah, it sounds harsh. I'm serious, though. I remember many, many times where I'd be trying to listen carefully to a lecture, and I'll I'd hear would be run-of-the-mill undergradute idiots talking about shampoo, boners or how drunk they got the night before. How lame. How totally lame. Did I find this annoying? Mc-Frig, yes!

Okay, while I'll agree that looking good/being seen and doing well in school do both require significant energy, I can say with some certianty that it is VERY possible to do both.

Also, isn't it a bit unfair to stereotype based on looks? (I'm not saying people don't do it) For example: I'll admit I spend too much on designer clothes (yes, it's MY money not my parents), but at the same time, I've managed to complete a professional program with good marks and I feel like I've put good effort into everything I've handed in.

I'll agree that somone who goes exclusively for the parties and puts zero effort into academic growth isn't getting the most out of university. But at the same time, I don't think it hurts my intellectual growth to save some energy for parties. My point is that it's more of a spectrum, rather than an Us/them situaition.

That said, I am in full agreement that some people need to develop a better sense of manners. People shouldn't be intefering with lectures for the sake of their own social life. That' just plain rude.

There's nothing wrong with London, whoever posted that. I live in London. The problem is with the many who flock from out of town to attend UWO. The town is not god-forsaken. It's the damn GTA-ers who just have to go to western that ruin London. Pack up your bags and leave. We don't want you.

That being said, i hope the situation was fake. because that's truly terrible. yikes.

Oh and yes. I'm sure some vapid UWO boy would still have sex with the aforementioned girls, even thought they are terrible people. Because really,. what do we learn from UWO? it may be a sterotype... but it's out there. people don't matter. sex does. whee.

hypocrite much?

if you're so insulted that people are badmouthing London, maybe you should try not making generalizations about other communities.

Not all "Western Girls" come from the GTA. Not all GTA'ers are Western Girls. Pull your head out of your ass and smell the hypocrisy.
