It's a long distance phone company that transforms into an awesome ass-kicking robot!
Girl #1: Tell me a story ... about a princess and Optimus Prime.
Girl #2: Optimus Prime? Isn't that a long distance phone company?

Here's my question: How are these undergrads even know what Transformers are? Wasn't this a little before their time? I think so...
__Let's have a frick'n whiskey funeral!
All frosh should be schooled during the first week about Optimus Prime if they don't already know.
If they still don't know after that they should be expelled.
Unless they're cute... Uggs optional.
Look A-HOLE, I just had myself a whiskey funeral! I buried them UGGS!
HELL-SCREW! And DON'T GO CALL'N ME A GRAVEYARD SLUT!
i think they meant primus! ROFLMAO
Conversation ruined, thats for sure. Stupid people!
Honestly, if you're an undergraduate (as I am) and dropping Transformers references, you're just co-opting borrowed nostalgia from the unremembered eighties for your own purposes, are you not? You were 2-6 years old when the 80s ended. You have a secondhand ironic attachment to Optimus Prime and nothing else, really.
Maybe I'm wrong, but it seems like more people are familiar with a lot of this stuff as ironic objects than as anything they ever had a sincere attachment to.
Actually, I don't think anyone over the age of six is supposed to enjoy Transformers, so the nostalgia can be real!
As an undergrad (4th year) I'm allowed to make these references since my Transformers had rubber wheels.
there are two types of people in this world... those who enjoy life, and those who like to critisize the way in which others enjoy life

you know you're getting old when: things you remember being cool the first time (Transformers, Ninja Turtles, etc) start being cool irnoically....
(and yes, I'm old by this definition)
oops...I meant "ironically"
as an undergrad who was 6 by the time the 80s wrapped up...i vaguely remember the initial run of the show..but definitely watched it in syndication in the early 90s.
being young and stupid, i was excited when my dad went to Optimist club meetings...thinking it had something to do with Optimus Prime..
being old enough to have clear memories of the 80's, I'm a bit nervous about them coming back....
I mean sure, you have GI Joe, Transformers, The A-Team, Miami Vice, etc that were cool, but we do NOT need comebacks from Molly Ringwald, The New Kids, "Just Say no" episodes, etc....those things sucked enough the first time!
Or perhaps Girl #1 has been watching the new Transformer episodes that are airing on the television (along with the new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) and isn't being nostalgic at all.
Molly Ringwald kicks ASS, I don't know what the hell you're talking about.
I was 8 when I bought my first two Transformers: Hound and Trailblazer. They were amazing.
I watched the Transformers movie for the first time last week. I couldn't believe it--I hear all this wicked stuff about Optimus Prime and the first thing I ever see him do is GET KILLED by Megatron. Honestly.
I also couldn't believe the voice talents in that movie: Leonard Nimoy, Eric Idle, ORSON WELLES?!? WTF?!
(I was too young for the first cartoon series, but I definitely remember the toy commercials as a young lad).
i think deceptacon is way cooler than optimus prime.
"i think deceptacon is way cooler than optimus prime."
uhh....which one?
If you're taking about megatron or Starscream, you may have a point....
i am going to name all of my kids after transformers. imagine how awesome it would be to talk to them - optimus prime, sit down next to megatron, we need to have a talk.
yes, i bite dane cook there, but you know what, it was delicious to do so, and ever so well placed.
